Old School 1st Communion Formal’s

When approached to capture an Old School Vintage assignment, I got very excited. Man, when a client respects that fact to go traditional without the sales pitch…man let the photographer go to work.

Was approached to capture an Old School Vintage 1st Communion assignment.  Just thrilled to do this on location the way it should be.

Knew exactly how I wanted this picture to look…dialed in the camera.  Just a perfect shot.

Made sure to get the right amount of fall off light on the side of the face but to expose for the Blessed Mother in the foreground.  Dialed in just the correct amount of depth of field to get the subject and bible, then have the background go soft.

My client wanted just formals of his son.   No problem but I wanted to give him more… his memory!  I asked the father to put his hand on his son’s shoulder for just a moment…what powerful imagery!  An earthly or Heavenly Father has his hand on you.  They are with you…behind you…guiding you…protecting you….  Imagery that’s personal and memorable.

Look how Mary is positioned over his shoulder…imagery of a good conscience.

To a client and a good friend, can’t begin to tell you what a privilege it was to do this for you.  You are doing a fine job raising your son and stand proud.
